There are many similarities and differences between China, Egypt, and Greece. One similarity is they are all polytheistic. Polytheistic means that the people believe in many gods. One difference is that all of their gods have different names. Such as Apollo a sun god is Greece and Aton the sun god in Egypt. Another similarity is all of their gods are the same kinds, like sun gods and sky gods. Another difference is Greece has a god for everything, but Egypt and China have gods for only natural things and simple causes like death and sickness. Egypt's gods are mostly Pharaoh which are people that become king. When they become Pharaoh the people of Egypt believe that they become one with the spiritual world. Greece and China dont have people as gods they have spiritual or super-natural beings. Greece had gods, goddesses, monsters, and spirits. They also had humans that have contact with the religion of greece. They could be children of the gods. China's religion is based on what scholars believe in and the way of making life balanced decisions. In Cunfucianism they believe in the making the right desision not why the gods let this happen to you. In Greece all of the gods have a weapon and a loved one and children. In China they have gods but they are just gods who control natural things in the world like the sky and the sea. Egypt is just like China's gods. They think they dont live like normal people, they think that they are just there to control the element of the world. All of these civilizations have similarities and differences, and thats what makes them so unique.

In the Shang Dynasty, the people in China worshipped a lot of different gods. These gods were weather gods and sky gods. Also there was a higher god who ruled over the other gods. People who lived during the Shang Dynasty also thought that their ancestors became gods when they died, and that their ancestors wanted to be worshipped too, like gods.Confucius is known as Kung Fuzi, or Master Kung. Confucius was born in 551 B.C. Confucius started Confucianism. Confucianism is a system of ethics, learning and statesmanship tought by Confucius and his discipls. The
Analects is a collection of quotations by Confucius. These sayings were written down by his students and in them, Confucius gives advide on how to do the things right. It also states that people shoudl take the middle way or make balanced desicions. Confucius believed that people should treat others the way they would like to be treated. He also felt that children should respect, must obey, and honor their parents and teachers. Confucianism is still used today. The Mandate of Heaven is the right to govern for the good of all people, this is what Confucius believed in. Confucius was a scholar. EGYPT
People were polytheistic and every Pharoah was a God. They also had other gods like the Sun God or Aton. When a Pharoah dies, the people in the empire would bury the Pharoah in their pyramid. They would take out the Pharoah's brain because they thought the brain was useless. Queen Sobeknefru ruled Egypt after
her husband's death. In 1498 B.C, Hatshepsut took power and was a Pharoah. He was murdered. About 1350 BC, Amenhotep IV became Pharoah. He changed his name to Akhenaten which means servant of Aton. Most Egyptians thought it was wrong to worship Aton and not Ra. Akhenaten became so focused on Aton that he forgot about his other duties as Phararoh so his advisores took control.

The religions of Ancient Rome, India, and Mesopotamia were very similiar yet very different. One similiarity is that they were all polytheistic. The gods had different names in each civilization. Mesopotamia had a god for many naturual stuff like wind and land, but they also had lesser gods for mud bricks, plow, and other things that they used to make life easier. This is sort of what the Ancient Romans practiced. The Ancient Romans had gods of naturual things like the Mesopotamians, but there other gods were for wine and hunting. Indians beleive that the gods are for creating, destroying, and preserving instead of having a god for everything. Ancient Romans were polytheistic, which means the believed in many different gods. The gods of Rome were Jupiter the master god, Juno Jupiter's wife, Mars the god of War, Veanus the goddess of love and beauty, Minerva the goddess of wisdom, Neptune the god of the sea, Ceres the goddess of the harvest, Vulcan the god of blacksmiths and volcano's, Diana the goddess of hunting and the moon, Bacchus the god of wine and partying, Mercury the god of travelers and tradesmen, and Vesta the goddess of hearth and home. Each god of Rome had there own temple. Roman citizens made offerings to the gods for good luck and strength. A lot of people think and still do that Jesus rose from the dead.Jesus sacrificed his life for what he believed in and the people that he loved. The people that he loved are all of us. A Jewish man named Jesus was born into the Roman Empire. He thought of a new religion called Christianity. He travelled across the land with a group of followers called the disciples. That is kind of like the Buddha. Christians beleive that there is a holy book called the Bible, that is like the Vedas in India. People that he loved were all of us. Indians believe in a religion called Hinduism. In Hinduism there are four books called the vedas. The vedas are the Rig Veda, the Sama Veda, the Yajur Veda, and the Atharva Veda. They also believe in many different gods. The main ones are Brahma the creator, Vishnu the preserver, and Shiva the destroyer. Indians also believe that you can get reincarnated into certain animals after you die, because of reincarnation it's forbidden to eat meat. In 563 B.C. a man named Siddharta Gautama was born. His father was a ruler in a kingdom south of the Himalayas. Siddharta Gautama's father never let him leave the palace. When Siddharta was a young man he left the palace walls and saw a sick man. He saw a monk who had nothing but a robe and was happy. When he returned to the palace he decided to leave his life of luxury and become a monk. He became known as the Buddha or "enlighted one". Buddhist, like the Hindus believe in reincarnation. They also believe in the four noble truths, all of them have something to do with suffering. The people of Mesopotamia believed that their world was controlled by gods and goddesses, demons and monsters. There were hundreds of gods who were responsible for everything in the world, from rivers and trees to making bread and pottery. Each city was protected by its own special god or goddess and their family. Large temples were built in the center of the city for these gods to live in. Priests looked after the gods with special rituals. There were also smaller temples throughout the city where ordinary people could make offerings. Demons were created by the gods with human bodies and animal or bird heads. They could be either evil or good. Monsters were a mixture of animals and birds.

I will be comparing the religions of Rome, Mesopotamia, and Greece. One difference is in Rome's early history, Rome worshiped many gods, but as their civilization developed it became monotheistic because of Christianity. Monotheistic means they only believe in one god. One similarity is that, Mesopotamia and Greece are polytheistic which means they worship many gods. Another similarity is, the Mesopotamian and Greek gods were very similar because they both had gods of water, like the Greek god of water, Poseidon and the Mesopotamian god of water, Enki. One more similarity would be that both Greeks and Mesopotamians tried to keep there gods satisfied.

Rome
Romans believed in Christianity. Christianity was started by Jesus, a Jewish man born in Judah, the southern part of the Roman province of Palestine. This is the modern day Israel and Jordan. Jesus grew up in Nazareth. Jesus had 12 disciples that were his group of followers. Jesus was approximately 30 years old when he started traveling and preaching to thousands of people. Jesus taught that there was only one god. He also encouraged people to obey the Ten Commandments. He taught that God loved everyone and wanted people to be kind to one another. Jesus preached about forgiveness and mercy towards people. Jesus' message and teachings then spread through Palestine. The local

leaders were fearful that the spread of Christianity and success of it would upset the Roman rulers. Jesus was arrested for spreading Christianity, he was tried found innocent, but then they sentenced Jesus to be crucified to please all of the local leaders. After Jesus was crucified, apostles, Peter and Paul traveled widely to spread the teachings throughout the Mediterranean region. By 100 A.D., Christianity had spread throughout the Roman Empire After the spread of Christianity, at first, many Christians were persecuted or punished for their beliefs. The Christians refused to worship the emperor as a god. Some people were forced to fight wild animals in the Colosseum and many were killed because of their beliefs. In 313 A.D., Emperor Constantine made Christianity equal to all other religions. He outlawed the persecution of Christians. Before he died in 337 A.D., he was baptized a Christian. In 380 A.D., emperor Theodosius made Christianity Rome's official religion.

Mesopotamia

The Sumerians and Akkadians practiced polytheism which means they believe in more than one god. Temples in the city states Sumer and Akkad were built as earthly homes for the gods. They believed their gods and goddesses were

responsible for their people and how fertile their land is. Their chief gods are:
Anu- god of heavens, Enlil-god of wind, Enki-god of water, and Ninhursag- mother of gods. They also believed in other smaller gods like the god of mud brick and god of the plow. If the people of a city were enjoying peace, they believed it was because the gods were pleased. Everyone worked hard to keep their gods happy. Every day the temple priests had to make offerings to their gods. They also gave the gods food and drinks. Each city believed they were under the protection of a god who looked after its interests. One of the Sumerians beliefs were that they thought the king was chosen by the gods transmit the gods’ wishes.

Greece

Just like Mesopotamians, Greeks wanted to make their gods and goddesses happy too. The Greeks created myths which are stories that include gods and goddesses and try to explain events in nature. Like Mesopotamians, the Greeks were polytheistic. The Greeks believed Mount Olympus is where all of the Gods lived. The Greeks thought that humans, gods, and goddesses are very similar because they looked and acted like a human. But the one difference between gods,

goddesses and humans is that gods and goddesses are immortal. When you’re immortal it means you are able to live forever. They also had special powers. Greeks worshipped their gods and goddesses in multiple ways. Every four years, the Greeks held athletic competitions to honor the king of gods, Zeus. These competitions are called the Olympics because they were held in the city of Olympia.
