For our final essay, we will be talking about different and interesting types of religions for Egypt, India, and Greece. There are so many different types of religions, but these ones really caught our attention. If you went back in time to see how people's religions were, where would you go? How will you identify the people? While you are reading our essay, think about how life would be WITHOUT religions and how religions started, and finally, what if you had your own religion? How would your religion be like? All these questions matter in this passage. So think about them while you are reading this passage.

Although all three of these civilizations followed different religions they, all believed in more than one god (polytheism). Hinduism and Greek mythology have gods and goddesses that represent something like the goddess of wealth is Laxmi Mata, a Hindu goddess and the goddess of beauty is Aphrodite, a Greek goddess. In Hinduism, we have a new year called Divali. There is also a Persian New Year called Nowruz. Another similarity is that they all have a place of worship. For Greek, Egyptian, and Indian religions, they all had temples for their gods. Both, the Indians and the Greeks, worshiped and offered goods to their gods. Indians ususally offer goods such as fruit like bananas, apples, pears, oranges. The Greeks gave things they bought from the agora, which is a Greek market place. The civilizations had their comparisons, but they also had their contrasts. There are all sorts of similar ideas to worship god, but there were also different ways of worshiping too!

The religions all had different ways of worshiping their gods. In India we have many, many celebrations on gods and goddess such as Janmashtmi, which is the birthday of lord Krishna. Every week, there is some special occasion. In Greece, they didn't have many celebrations. The only celebration the Greeks had was the Olympics. The Olympics was a competition that was held for the most powerful Greek god, Zeus. The Egyptians worshiped the Nile River, because that was their giver and taker of life. The Nile River provided a fresh source of water for their crops when it flooded. Sometimes the Nile River flooded a little too much or less than what was required. Then there was famine because of the destroyed crops. And finally one more difference was that the Indians and the Persians had a new year, but the Greeks and Egyptians didn't. What are some other differences you can think of?

As you can see, these three religions are alike and different in many ways. The main thing that they were worshiping god. Back then, many people disagreed with each others religions but each religion followed their own path. Even though everyone might have not believed in the same gods and goddesses, they still all worshipped their gods and were very involved with their belief. Overall, the religions were special in their own ways, and their special religions made their time period more unique.
