The ancient civilizations of Rome, Mesopotamia, and India/Persia had very intricate levels of social classes, or castes. In the aspect of similarities, there was someone on top, like a king or ruler. Then after them came a noble person or maybe townspeople. Finally after them came the poorest people, like the serfs of servants. However, the differences were a little more complex.

In Mesopotamia, it went from, at the top, Kings, Queens, and Rulers, common people, like the merchants and the artisans, and finally slaves. The Kings, Queens and Rulers made all of the rules for the civili zation and decided the fates of all of the people. They controlled all of the land. They even made all of the laws, being the Central Government for all of Mesopotamia. The normal people were the merchants and the town’s people and the jewelers. They were the people who listened to the rulers. The normal people also had the people that worked for them, A.K.A. the slaves. The slaves were just like the slaves we think about during the 1800's, before the Civil War. These people got no pay, and worked and worked and worked all day for their masters, the people that owned them. The caste system in the civilization of India/Persia is very similar. In this, the priests were at the top. After them were the warriors and rulers, known as Kshatriyas. Next came the Vaishyas, or the business people, farmers, and merchants. These people had an important job in their city because they did all of the work in the town. After the Vaishyas came the Chandalas or later known as the "Untouchables." These people were the slaves. They were called untouchables because people who were very snobby thought that they had a better status than them and they were not allowed to touch them, or they would become poor and unworthy and would then become slaves. Just like in India and Mesopotamia, Rome had a social system, too. For Rome the highest level in the social structure are the counsels. The counsels are senators that are elected to lead the senate. They could become dictators in times of emergency. If either one of them become dictators, they automatically move to the top of the chain. After the counsels come the senators. The senators are elected to represent their own little part of Rome. All senators are patricians, however not all patricians are senators. The patricians are the rich people. They were not very common back then, though. The patricians only made up about 10% of the population of Rome. The other 90% of Rome were the common people, called the plebeians . The plebei a ns are the average people, the merchants and also even the poorest people. The plebeians have some rights. In fact, the whole town and even Roman Empire had a set of rules and conditions, fair for every person. These rules were very important to the society and made life easier and fairer. In all of these ancient civilizations, there was a scale of people; from the most important to the middle people to the poorest people that made the civilizations have a balanced society.

The ancient civilizations, Ancient Egypt, Ancient China, and Ancient Greece used social classes to help govern and take control of their country. All three civilizations had similarities and differences.

The Egyptian social class went from the Pharaoh to the nobles and priests to the merchants, craftsmen, scribes to farmers and unskilled workers to enslaved people. People in the Egyptian social class could move up with hard work. The Pharaoh was the top of the social class. The Pharaoh had all of the money and the food. The Pharaoh had slaves to do whatever he wanted them to do. Pharaoh means "great house." This means that he has all of the power in his land. The nobles and priests were underneath the pharaoh. The nobles were the family members of the pharaoh. They were the mom, dad, and if they had brothers and sisters. The priests were the head of the church and gave masses. Merchants, craftsmen, and scribes were underneath the nobles and priests. The merchants were the one that sold objects to people for money. Craftsmen were people who made tools, furniture, and more. Then they sold it to make money. Scribes make stories and they can write. Farmers own farm so they have some food and stuff for them to drink. The only thing that is hard about the farmers and unskilled workers is that they work for hours and hours and they don't get a break except for lunch and dinner. Then after a hard day’s work they can go to sleep. Underneath the farmers and unskilled workers there were the enslaved people. The enslaved people were usually the prisoners from wars that the Egyptians were in. The enslaved people lost their freedom and were owned by someone else.

Egyptian Social Classes

Some of the similarities of the Egyptian social class to the Greek social class are that the social classes organized the people. Egyptian social class is much like the Chinese social class because the rulers are on the top of the social class. One difference in the Greek social class is they had gods and rulers in the top of their social class and on the Egyptian, the pharaoh or ruler was on the top. A different with the Chinese social class is that teachers and students didn't have a class to themselves. Also in the Egyptian social class nobles were the second from the top.

The Chinese valued social class as a very important thing. The Western Zhou Dynasty was the first dynasty to create the social system. The social system is as follows: ruler, subject, teacher, student, noble, and last but not least, peasant.

Emperor
The ruler, or emperor, is at the top of the social class. The emperors
are the rulers of the people. So he was the most wealthy and powerful. This is the reason that the emperor is at the top of the social class. Second on the social class is the subject. The subjects are the people who serve the emperor and rule for him. They provide anything the emperor needs. Because the subjects are associated with the emperor, they are second on the social class. Third on the social class is the teacher. The teachers are very important because they are responsible for the teaching and education of the students. Without them, the people of China would not be educated. This is why the teacher holds the third position in the social class. Underneath the teachers there were the students. They got a social class to themselves because education is very important to the Chinese because then they can hold a job and make money for the family. Underneath the students were the nobles. The nobles were the rich people who owned the peasants. In China the more peasants and property you have the more money you have. Last but not least were the peasants. They were the people who worked on the plantation or farm of the nobles. Some of the days they worked day till night without any breaks.

There are similarities in the social class to China like is the Egyptians. Their similarity is that they both have the rulers on the top of the social class. They had the most money and power so that’s how they got to the top of the social class. One similarity with the Greeks is that they both they are almost the same in the social class. The only thing that is wrong is that the gods and goddesses are on the top. A difference with China and Egypt is that teachers and students don't have a class to themselves.

In Greece everyone had a social class which helped keep the country in order. Many other countries have social classes

This is the greek social classes
including Egypt and China. All of the social classes keep order in their countries and made them very successful. This shows that having a social class can really help keep you organized maybe I should do something like that. Greece had different social classes for different city states unlike the Chinese and the Egyptians. The Greeks, Chinese, and Egyptians also have similarities like how it includes higher class, middle class, and a lower class. The Greek social classes included the gods (the unearthly divine rulers). There were many Greek gods and goddesses including Zeus leader of the gods god of sky, Athena goddess of wisdom, Hades god of the underworld (hell) who was sent their as a punishment for abusing his powers. Poseidon the god of the sea, and Ares god of war are just some of the many gods.

There are some similarities and differences in the ancient time with Ancient Greek, Ancient China, and Ancient Egyptain.
